Four Peaks Brewing Company Becomes the Latest Craft Brewer Acquired by A-B

Dear Client:

The latest craft brewer to be acquired by Anheuser-Busch's is none other than Four Peaks Brewing Company out of Tempe, Arizona. The state's fastest growing craft brewery.

First Beverage Group acted as financial advisor to Four Peaks on the deal, which is expected to close during the first quarter of 2016. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"It's exciting to partner with another group of passionate craft beer founders, this time in the great state of Arizona," said Andy Goeler, CEO, Craft, The High End. "What Andy, Jim, Randy and the team have been able to accomplish is remarkable and a testament to their culture and portfolio of great beers. We look forward to learning from each other and bringing more Four Peaks beers to craft lovers in the Southwest."

Four Peaks is on track to sell approximately 70,000 barrels of beer this year.

The company's four pubs likely caught A-B's eye as well. Four Peaks has their 8th Street Brewery and Tasting Room on Wilson in Tempe; Four Peaks Grill & Tap in Scottsdale; and Four Peaks Sky Harbor at the Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix.

Four Peaks' home base will remain in Arizona and co-founders Jim Scussel, Andy Ingram and Randy Schultz "will continue to lead the business."

Recall, Four Peaks made Bump William's list of 10 craft brewers that are ostensibly quite appealing to acquisitive types earlier this year [see CBD 04-03-2015]. So props to Bump on that prediction.

New Belgium Brewing Company is reportedly "looking for a buyer that could value the U.S. company at more than $1 billion, according to people familiar with the matter," per Reuters report.

Lazard Middle Market is advising the Fort Collins-based company on the potential sale, per sources. The advisory firm and New Belgium both had nothing to say on the matter.

Recall, New Belgium has been a 100% employee owned company for nearly three years.
