BeerNet's advisory board, also called the Truth Squad, consists of hundreds of industry executives from distributors, brewers, importers, and allied industry people. The identities of members of the Truth Squad are kept confidential in order to promote candor.

History of Truth Squad: Truth Squad Member No. 1 was a top brewery exec who came up with the term after giving me a particularly pertinent bit of news several years ago.

Since then hundreds of top beer industry executives have joined the Squad by forwarding to me news items which I’ve used in my newsletter. Usually those hot beer items are of national or regional interest to distributors and/or brewers, i.e. a new product test or rollout, hot pricing action, a merger or acquisition, a major personnel change, supplier communications, etc.

How to Become a Member: First, you must be a subscriber. Second, if you email or call me with a news item that is worthy of going into the newsletter, you are automatically enrolled in the Truth Squad. If somebody else has already given me that news item, you still become a Member for at least trying (as long as you email or call before, not after, the news item is published). Once you are in the Truth Squad, you are a lifetime member, and nobody can take that honor away from you. But to remain an Active Member of the T-Squad, as longtime members call it, you must provide a piece of news for the newsletter at least once a year.

Remember, we NEVER reveal sources. All submissions are assumed to be anonymous and will be presented in the newsletter in a way to best ensure your identity is kept confidential, (unless you are okay with being identified, in which case let me know).

Remember, the identities of Truth Squad members are never revealed to protect the innocent (and guilty). But I may call/email you from time to time to talk beer or just chat. Maybe we’ll come up with a secret handshake or something.

Membership has its privileges: Most of all, you get the pure satisfaction of shining the cleansing light of truth on the dark corners of our industry. But in case that’s not enough, we’ll also send gifts. Starting this year, we’ll send a neat gift around the holidays to all Active Truth Squad members. Check your mailboxes around mid-December.
