About Beer Business Daily

Get the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Get it Every Sell Day...Get it First...Get it Cheaper

"Beer Business Daily keeps the Molson organization up-to-date on industry and competitive issues on a daily basis which is important given the rapid changes going on and expected to continue among brewers, distributors and regulators."
-Geoff Molson, Molson USA

BEER BUSINESS DAILY is an edited daily newsletter covering the global beer industry, delivered via fax or email to hundreds of beer industry executives' desks every sell day.

BEER BUSINESS DAILY is a brief, concise, carefully edited daily newsletter, aimed to serve the modern necessity of keeping beer industry executives acutely informed on a daily basis, created on the principle of no fluff and no bull. Our motto: Read less, know more, get it faster.

Brevity is the soul of wit, and the daily email/fax newsletter BEER BUSINESS DAILY delivers all the relevant and often exclusive insider beer news, analysis, numbers, breaking news, and salty commentary in a very concise one-page format every sell day.

BEER BUSINESS DAILY never, ever, sits on the fence; and it is never, ever boring. We strive to make every issue important and interesting.

What We Cover

BEER BUSINESS DAILY covers on a daily basis categories such as:

Insider beer industry news – get brief, concise, insider beer news with analysis by industry participants and observers, carefully edited by an industry veteran. We publish news you often can’t get anywhere else.

Breaking beer industry news and analysis – the important breaking developments that affect your business, plus commentary and analysis, on your fax machine or in your email in-box just after it happens. We broke the big stories before or just after they happened like:

Coors buying Carling with an interview with Rob Klugman; SAB buying Miller with an interview with John Bowlin; Bowlin then resigning with an interview with Norman Adami; Miller shuttering the Tumwater brewery; Barry Andrews buying Willow Distributors with an interview with Barry; the Treasury’s proposed ruling to reformulate malternatives with quotes from mike’s hard lemonade exec, SABMiller buying Peroni two weeks before it happened, Coors launching low carb Aspen two months before announcement, and so on.

Shipments, including state-by-state, import by country, and exports – we highlight the shipment data for you. Also we make all of it accessible in full on our website.

Summaries of brewer/analyst conference calls – we summarize the key data points, quotes, and big issues in quarterly and intermittent analyst conference calls so you don’t have to listen or miss anything. We also monitor Wall Street and London for material information affecting the beer business.

Keeping a fisheye on the feds and judges – we keep in constant contact with Rehr, Becker, Bradford, and the key state execs to keep you in the loop on major legislative and judicial developments, particularly as it pertains to 3-tier.

Grilling brewer and importer brass – we regularly interview top industry execs to get their view on the marketplace and distributors. We’ve interviewed Miller’s Norman Adami, Coors’ Rob Klugman, Labatt USA’s Steve Cahillane, NBWA’s David Rehr, IBG’s Joe Thompson, Barton's Bill Hackett, Coors' Leo Kiely, Boston's Jim Koch, Heineken USA's Frans van der Minne, among many others.

Daring forecasts – this is a tough one that nobody else wants to touch. We often forecast trends and events (such as SAB buying Miller a good month before it happened). It’s a risky business, but we’ve actually had a pretty good track record so far.

Sell days – each day we print the month’s sell day, the number of sell days in the current month vs last year, the day of the week the month ends on this year vs last year, and the YTD over/under sell days, so you always know where you stand comparing apples to apples.

Reader feedback – our readers are our best sources of information. If it's important to them, it's important to us. All major domestic brewers subscribe, all major importers, hundreds of distributors, scores of ad execs, many attorneys and consultants, and others.

We’ve been publishing for over six years and we’ve been cited as a source in dozens of newspapers and magazines including the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, Bloomberg News, The International Herald-Tribune, Business 2.0 Magazine, Fortune International, Inc. Magazine, CNN.com, and as a guest on several talk radio shows.

Testimonials

Here are just a few notes we have recently received from subscribers:

"I enjoy your publication because it is accurate and timely. I am, though, more impressed with how you present the information. Instead of simply just reporting a few tidbits and placing them into the same paragraph, you go through, what I feel, is a lot of detail to take the same information and make it more meaningful. I feel that that is the most important benefit of your publication."
-Kevin Bartholomew, President, Ben E. Keith Beers

“The first email I open every day. Nothing keeps me up to date and involved like your work, Harry.”
-Daniel Bradford, President, Brewers' Association of America

“Beer Business Daily provides me with relevant industry news daily in a concise manner that may impact me as a beer wholesaler. You are the USA Today of beverage publications!”
-Fred Dana, Dana Distributing, Inc.

"I can't imagine why any beer distributor would not subscribe to Beer Business Daily. It's inexpensive for what you get and it's very, very informative."
-Don Faust, Jr., Faust Distributing Co.

“It's gratifying to know that the information you get is fact-based and the accompanying editorial commentary is coming from someone who actually loaded boxes. Beer Business Daily is a good, fast read, insightful and informative.”
-Gary Galanis, Dir. Communications & Media Relations, Diageo

“Harry, love your fact-based newsletter. I have been in the business 23 years and find this very important summation of the industry that sets well particularly after you fight the daily battle of post-acquisition beer business and find yourself trying to figure out if you moved the rock at the end of the day.”
-Alan McPherson, Sales Manager, Pine State Trading Co.

“Harry goes to the point and is never boring. I have never deleted that email but read it with interest, only wishing that he could be cloned and produce a European and Asiatic Harry.”
-The Viscount Philippe de Spoelberch, Non-Executive Director, Interbrew S.A., Belgium

"After the sales report, the next thing I look at every morning is Harry's beer letter. I have found it unbiased and a valuable tool in our industry."
-Vincent Dawson, BudCo, LTD

“I absolutely love your service, and think it's the best money I've spent on a news service to date.”
-Dean Plunkett, North Carolina Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association
